The safety of our students, staff, and any community members in the building is our priority. To ensure we communicate with families and share accurate information, we want you to know what occurred today.
At Molalla High School, a lockdown was accidentally initiated by a staff member at 1:30 pm. This was not a drill or expected; it was a human error. All staff and students promptly responded following our protocols.
Due to the adjustments we made, the administration and the School Resource Officer promptly confirmed it was an accidental alarm trigger and began releasing classrooms following protocol. Students and staff returned to regular schedules and activities.
We realize that any such event is stressful. We are working directly with the alert company, our technology director and district office administrators, and Molalla Police Department to make necessary adjustments to reduce human error.
Other school districts have implemented this service and have navigated challenges. We believe that the overall safety of students and staff is worth the investment into working through these challenges.
