Awards Night Highlights

Wednesday, May 18, was an exciting night for MHS students and staff. Many students received their Academic Letter Awards and Senior Awards and Scholarships were presented to our senior students. Here are some highlights of the evening:

Academic Letter Awards:
60 students earned at least one academic letter and 45 earned both their 1
st and 2nd Academic Letters.
Sophomores: 65 students earned Academic Letters. 
Juniors: 63 students earned Academic Letters. 
Seniors: 72 students earned Academic Letters and 22 students earned their Academic Plaque.

Scholarships and Recognitions:
Our seniors earned $1,498, 975.00 in grants and scholarships.
29 Local Scholarship Donors gave 112 Scholarships ranging from $250 to $14,000(this is a 4 year renewable) and 51 of our students received local scholarships.  

Austin Alexander was accepted into the Air Force Academy

Maria Palacios received the Ford Scholarship: She is one of 120 students from Oregon and Siskiyou County, Cal to be awarded this honor.  The selection process includes and application along with an interview.  Students are selected based on need, leadership skills, good character, a concern for others, clear communication skills, and the ability to succeed in college.  The scholarship pays for 90% of any unpaid tuition need and extends into two years of graduate school.

Staff of the year:  Blane Lazar, Support Staff of the year: Ginger Fisher, Valedictorian: Landon DesRosiers  4.49 weighted GPA, Salutatorian:  Drew VandenBroeder  4.472 weighted GPA, Principal’s Award: Amanda Clarizio, Indian Maiden: Diana Xiong (also includes a $250 scholarship), Sagamore: Coletin DeFabio (also includes a $250 scholarship, Scholar Athlete Award:  Male:  Drew VandenBroeder, Female: Amanda Clarizio

Spring Sports Athletes Place at State

State Champions:
Rachel Bring is the State Champion in the Discus and Shot put
Mont Child is the State Champion in the Shot put
Desirae DesRosiers is the State Champion in the 300 Hurdles
Emmett Copher is the State Champion in Consolation Boys Tennis

Girls Track team placed 4th in State
Girls Tennis placed 5th in State
Congratulations to all who participated and placed at State Competitions

OHSET Athletes Qualify for Regionals

Dominique Bangle and Garrett Veltman placed 4th in state in the Two Man Birangle and are Regional Qualified.  
Dominque Bangle, Garrett Veltman and Taris Krutsch placed 3rd in Team Penning and are Regional Qualified.

FFA Members place at Districts

Congratulations to FFA Members Coletin DeFabio who placed 1st in Tractor Driving and Darrion Rhoades-Mott who placed 4th in Tractor Driving.  Coletin will be moving on to the state contest in August.



Class of 2016 Graduation Day is June 11, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at Molalla High School Capasso Court

The Molalla High School Art Show will be held on Wednesday, May 25th in the MHS commons and will be open from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The Art Show will showcase art in five categories from staff and students in the Molalla area. Categories will include: metal, ceramics, photography, graphics, and drawing/painting. The entire community is welcome to join us for food and festivities as we showcase the premier artists living within our community.

The 2016-17 Student School Calendar has been approved by the Molalla River School District Board of Education.
